It was a tournament unlike any other, but then 2020 was a year unlike any other. In March of 2020 we weren’t even certain we would have a golf tournament, but we were able to stage a different looking tournament with no Opening Ceremony, no awards dinner, scheduled tee times and a first ever on-line auction.

 

We took other necessary precautions working with our host, Bentwinds Country Club, and in a year where we hoped to raise $100,000, we raised the most ever in the history of the tournament...

As a comparison, in 2019, $130,107.05 was (net) raised; a 21% increase from 2019 to 2020. In 12 years, the Tee-Off for the Troops Golf Classic has successfully raised $816,891.23 for veterans and active-duty personnel.

Our 44 Major Sponsors ($1,200+) could not have been more generous in a year where most Military Missions in Action fundraisers had to be cancelled. And as always, our 285 golfers helped to make 2020 a year we will long remember. And to those US Flag, Purple Heart, Friends of TOFT and Memorial and Honor sponsors, it was by far the most participation we have ever received from individuals who just wanted to donate, but who didn’t golf.

 

Again, for the 9th year, House Autry Mills of Four Oaks, our Title Sponsor, helped by contributing $20,000.

 

We are humbled by our success and by the relationships we have built with our many loyal sponsors; whether the sponsor paid $20,000 or $50.

A tournament’s success is dependent on the involvement and commitment of so many.

 

To all who made the 2020 Tee-off for the Troops Golf Classic the best ever, a simple thank you does not seem to be enough. In a different kind of year, it was a different success we could not have imagined.
