Rich Brown

COL (Retired) Richard Brown is a native of Monroe, New York, and has lived in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina for sixteen years. Colonel Brown retired in 2020, after thirty-three years of military service in the U.S. Army Reserves. He has deployed three times. The first two combat tours were spent in Iraq (2004-2005 and 2008-2009) and his third to Kuwait (2017). While deployed, he worked with Iraqi and Kuwaiti government agencies, Tribal councils, community groups and Non-Governmental Organizations to enable Iraq’s reconstruction and Kuwait’s stability. He is the recipient of the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, and the Combat Action Badge among his numerous awards. Colonel Brown holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the State University of New York and is a graduate of the Naval Post Graduate School and the U.S. Army War College. He is currently a Department of the Army Civilian working as a Force Protection Specialist, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He is an avid runner and Disneyfile. Locally, he is a committee member of Run The Quay and the Fuquay Varina Christmas Parade Staging Director. He is married to Mrs. Lisa Brown and has three children. His daughter, Samantha, is a commissioned officer in the US Army. His son, TJ, attends Christopher Newport University and his youngest son, Grant, is a student at Cardinal Gibbons High School.
